Latina Mami was founded in Austin, Texas in 2000 by a young Latina mother to build a support network for Latina mothers and their children. Gloria Perez-Walker was disillusioned by the resources available for Latina women and found them demeaning because they didn't build on the natural strength of the women she knew. She formed support groups, cultural events and a maternity/baby equipment closet (clothes for trade only) for other Latina mothers. Other Latina Mami projects have included the "Mamis of Color" radio show, a babysitting cooperative, birthing advocacy, anti-violence organizing, and bilingual parenting newsletters written by and for Latina mothers.
I happened upon this website quite accidentally and what a treat! I LOVE Austin and this program just reinforce the sense of community that's found there. Angel

Then let my girl take a shit in his mouth. On camera. Then mail the tape to a.q. headquarters. Or better yet, take them to a strip club and make them watch while my redneck buddies prepare for an old-fashioned parking-lot ass-whoopin!
